1. Kamatchi Amman temple: This Kanchi Kamatchi Temple is an Ancient hindu temple dedicated to Kamatchi, One of the forms of Goddess Parvati. This temples spread across an total area of 5 Acres, and it is one of the oldest temples in India as it was built during the 14th Century by Chola rules. There are no other Parvati temples in the city of Kanchipuram, apart from this temple, which is unusual in a traditional city that has hundreds of traditional temples. There are various legends that account for this fact.
2. Varatharaja Perumal Temple: This temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu Located in the holy city of kanchipuram. It is one of the Divya desam, the 108 temples of Vishnu believed to have been visited by the 12 poet saints or Alwars. There is a belief that the temple was first built by the Pallava king 2nd Nandhivarman. Varadharaja Perumal Temple was originally built by the Cholas in 1053, and it was expanded during the reigns of the great Chola kings and Vikrama Chola. In the 14th century another wall and a Gopura was built by the later Chola kings. The temples cover an area 23 Acres.
3. Ekambareswarar Temple: The temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in Kanchipuram Town. It is significant to the Hindu sect of Saivism as one of the temples associated with the five elements, the Pancha Bhoota Stalas, and specifically the element of earth, or Prithvi. Shiva is worshiped as Ekambareswarar or Ekambaranathar, and is represented by the lingam, with his idol referred to as Prithvi lingam. His consort Parvati is depicted as Gowri Devi Amman. The presiding deity is revered in the 7th century Tamil Saiva canonical work, the Tevaram, written by Tamil saint poets known as the nayanars and classified as Paadal Petra Sthalam.
4. Kailasanathar Temple: This temple dedicated to Lord Siva and it’s known for its historical importance. The temple was built from 685-705 AD by a Rajasimha (2nd Narasimhavarman) ruler of the Pallava Dynasty. The low slung sandstone compound contains a large number of carvings, including many half-animal deities which were popular during the early Dravidian architectural period. The structure contains 58 small shrines which are dedicated to various forms of Shiva. These are built into niches on the inner face of the high compound wall of the circumambulatory passage. The temple is one of the most prominent tourist attractions of the city.
5. Vaigunda Perumal Temple: Is a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Located in Kanchipuram in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture, the temple is glorified in the Divya Prabandha, the early medieval Tamil canon of the Alwar saints from the 6th & 9th centuries. It is one among the 108 Divyadesam dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Vaikuntanathan and his consort Lakshmi as Vaikundavalli. The temple follows Vaikhanasa Agama and observes six daily rituals and two yearly festivals. The temple is maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
