How long is the Chennai to Tiruchendur drive and what route do you take?+
It is roughly 620 km one way and we plan for 11 to 12 hours of driving time with stops. The standard route is Chennai → Tindivanam (NH-32) → Villupuram → Ulundurpet → Trichy → Madurai → Kovilpatti → Tirunelveli → Tiruchendur. We avoid the longer East Coast Road option because it adds 1.5 to 2 hours and lacks safe night-driving stretches.
What time will the driver pick us up from Chennai?+
Default pickup is 04:30 AM from your doorstep so we can reach Tiruchendur by 6:30 to 7:00 PM the same evening. We can shift pickup to 03:30 AM if you want to attend the morning Vishwaroopa Darshan on Day 1 itself, or to 06:00 AM if you prefer a relaxed start (you would then reach by ~8:30 PM).
Which vehicles do you provide for this package and how many people fit?+
We operate three options on this route: 7+1 seater Innova Crysta (for 4 to 6 guests), 12+1 seater Force Urbania (for 8 to 11 guests), and 17+1 seater Tempo Traveller (for 12 to 16 guests). All vehicles are AC, push-back seats, with charging points, bottled water and a dust-free luggage cabin.
What is included in the package price?+
AC vehicle with experienced driver, all fuel, tolls, inter-state permits, driver bata and night halt, 1 night twin-sharing hotel near the temple (typically 1 to 1.5 km walking distance), welcome dinner on Day 1 and South-Indian breakfast on Day 2, bottled water, mobile charging, 24×7 trip-desk support and GST invoice. See the Inclusions section above for the full list.
What is NOT included?+
Lunches on both days, special darshan tickets (Kukka Pooja ₹150, Sandal Alangaram ₹500 etc.), camera/video charges inside the temple, personal expenses such as prasadam, tips or laundry, side trips beyond the standard route (Kanyakumari, Nellaiappar Temple), travel insurance, and the 5% GST charged on the total package value.
What kind of hotel do we get in Tiruchendur?+
We block 3-star equivalent properties within 1 to 1.5 km of the Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple - usually Hotel Sankar Residency, Hotel Aishwaryam Grand or Hotel Sivasakthi. Rooms are twin-sharing, AC, with attached bathroom, hot water and clean linen. Upgrades to deluxe sea-view rooms or single-occupancy rooms are available at extra cost - ask while booking.
What are the temple darshan timings and which one should we attend?+
The temple opens at 05:00 AM (Vishwaroopa Darshan), with main darshan slots through the morning until 12:00 PM, then again 04:00 PM to 09:00 PM. We schedule your visit for 05:00 to 07:00 AM on Day 2 - crowds are thinnest, the sea breeze is cool, and you finish all rituals (darshan, Nazhikkinaru well, Valli cave, beach) before 9:30 AM breakfast.
Is there a special darshan / VIP queue?+
Yes - a ₹150 Kukka Pooja ticket lets you skip the general queue and finish darshan in 25 to 35 minutes. For closer access to the deity during alangaram, the ₹500 Sandal Alangaram ticket is recommended. Our driver helps you buy tickets at the counter or via the Tiruchendur Temple official app. These costs are not included in the package.
Can we add Kanyakumari or Nellaiappar Temple to the trip?+
Yes, both are popular add-ons. Kanyakumari is 90 km / ~2 hours from Tiruchendur - adding it stretches Day 2 by 5 to 6 hours and costs ₹3,500-₹5,000 extra depending on vehicle. Nellaiappar Temple at Tirunelveli is on the return route and only adds ~45 minutes, with a small ₹1,000 vehicle waiting charge. Mention add-ons at booking so we can plan timings.
What is the dress code for the temple?+
Traditional attire is enforced strictly. Men: dhoti or pants with shirt - shorts, lungis, sleeveless vests are NOT allowed. Women: saree, salwar kameez or long skirt with top - jeans, leggings, short dresses are NOT allowed. Footwear must be removed at the entrance; we recommend cotton socks because the granite floor heats up quickly after 8:00 AM.
How do we book and what is the payment schedule?+
Call or WhatsApp +91 73055 59949 to confirm dates and vehicle. We share a written quote and Google Maps pin within 15 minutes. Pay 30% advance (UPI, bank transfer or card) to lock the booking; balance 70% can be paid to the driver in cash or UPI on Day 1 before departure. Free cancellation up to 48 hours before pickup - see our terms page for the full policy.
Is this trip safe for senior citizens and small children?+
Yes - over 60% of our Tiruchendur passengers are families with elders or kids under 10. We use push-back seats with extra cushions, plan a stop every 2 to 2.5 hours for restroom and tea, carry a basic first-aid kit, and avoid late-night driving on the return leg. For wheelchair access or special meals, give us 48 hours notice and we will arrange them at no extra charge.
