Kolli Hills is about 360 km from Chennai in Namakkal district, around 7 hours of driving, ending in 70 hairpin bends up from the Rasipuram side. The Force Urbania is the most comfortable way to do that climb, which is why groups that have made the trip once in something older tend to ask for it the second time.

Why the Urbania on this route
The Urbania is a monocoque body rather than a ladder frame, which in practice means less body roll and less noise than a conventional tempo traveller. On a flat highway run that difference is pleasant. On 70 continuous hairpin bends it is the difference between a group that arrives ready to walk to the falls and a group that arrives wanting to lie down.
It also has proper reclining seats and more headroom, which matters across a 7 hour journey.
The road up
Chennai to Ulundurpet on the NH, then Attur and Rasipuram, and the climb starts after that. The bends are tight and continuous rather than steep, so the last stretch takes longer than the distance suggests. Allow an extra hour over a maps estimate, particularly with children or anyone prone to motion sickness in the group.
AC is switched off during the climb, as it is on every ghat road, to keep engine temperature down through a long first gear ascent.
12 seater or 16 seater
The 12 seater suits a single family or a small group travelling together. The 16 seater is the one to take when you are at eleven or twelve people with luggage, because seat counts are legal capacity rather than a comfort rating and a full vehicle on a 7 hour run is a different experience from a full vehicle on a day trip.

What the fare covers
The per km rate covers the vehicle, fuel and the driver. Charged on top at actuals: toll, parking, and the hill charge for the ghat section. No state permit applies on this route.
Outstation trips bill on a minimum of 300 km a day. The round trip to Kolli Hills is about 720 km, so a two day booking bills on the distance actually covered.
Planning the days
Two days is the common booking: an early start from Chennai, arrival by afternoon, then the falls and the viewpoints the following morning before the drive back. Three days gives you the Arapaleeswarar temple and the ridge viewpoints without rushing.
Agaya Gangai falls is what most groups come for, a roughly 300 foot waterfall reached by a long stepped descent that takes real effort in both directions. Semmedu is the town centre most itineraries work out from.
